MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Murfreesboro Police Department has opened investigations into several Memorial Day car break-ins.

Authorities said they're looking for a man and a woman who broke into at least seven cars at the Fountains at Gateway, Manson Pike Trailhead and the pickleball courts on Golf Lane on Monday afternoon. Hours later, they were seen on a surveillance camera leaving a store.

"These two individuals — they stole everything: cash, credit cards, debit cards, iPad, iPhones," Larry Flowers, public information officer for the Murfreesboro Police Department, told News 2.

Investigators said that the duo went on a shopping spree and were later spotted leaving a store with a video gaming system.

However, authorities said this is just one example area car break-ins. In another case, Flowers said that residents called the Murfreesboro Police Department after seeing two men break into cars. Ultimately, two 21-year-olds were arrested on misdemeanor charges.

"We have park officers that patrol our parks [and] our greenway," Flowers said. "Of course, they can't be everywhere at the same time, so of course we just ask that people park smart. Remove your valuables; don't leave any valuables in plain sight. Remove your key and be sure your doors are locked."

Flowers warned against approaching someone actively breaking into a car.

"Some of them will have weapons on them, so we just advise you not to approach," Flowers added. "Call the police and we'll take it from there."

The two suspects accused of breaking into at least seven vehicles across Murfreesboro were seen driving a silver Hyundai SUV with a Tennessee license plate reading BFB0638. The tag is registered to a different vehicle.

If you see that vehicle, or if you have any information that could help Murfreesboro police identify the suspects, you're asked to call Detective Ferree at 629-201-5628.
