DONELSON, Tenn. (WKRN) — New life is coming to an old building in Donelson, but questions remain as to what, exactly, will come.
The old hospital facility on Lebanon Pike has sat empty for years, but Metro Councilmember Jordan Huffman said it's in a prime location for development.
The current zoning for that property allows for more than 250 apartment units; however, Huffman said a new rezoning proposal could allow mixed-use development instead.
There are currently two options that could work in the space.
Option A would include a grocery store, 250 multifamily units, 80 single-family homes, and retail space.
Option B would be 390 multifamily units, 80 single-family homes, and retail space, but no grocery store.

Rezoning could also mean upgrades to the nearby roads, including new traffic signals and potential crosswalks to improve safety and traffic flow, as well as a prohibition on short-term rentals.
Huffman told News 2 no official zoning change has been filed yet, but once it's submitted, the process will take about four months and include two public hearings.
