Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) has called for Ghislaine Maxwell to testify on the Jeffrey Epstein case.

On Tuesday, Burchett posted to social media that he had sent a letter to the House Committee on Oversight and Reform Chairman, James Comer, calling for Maxwell's testimony. This comes as lawmakers disagree over whether to release the Epstein files.

Chairman Comer,

Thank you for your continued leadership on the House Committee on Oversight and Reform. Given the events of the past week, I respectfully request you invite Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell to testify in a public hearing before the Committee. Should Ms. Maxwell refuse the invitation, I encourage you to use subpoena powers.

The American people have questions about the case involving Jeffrey Epstein. It is well beyond time those questions are answered.

Sincerely,

Tim Burchett, Member of Congress

"I'd just like to see the files turned over, you know, as far as the list, I thin..." Burchett said. "I don't know a lot of criminals, but the ones that have studied you usually don't keep a list around, so I would suspect that there was there's some trouble with the flight logs because obviously, somebody flies on his plane doesn't mean that they're a pedophile or do anything illegal; it's just what rich people do."

Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges. His arrest and suicide led to several conspiracy theories. A memo from the U.S. Department of Justice was released earlier this month stating that no more information about the Epstein case would be released — specifically his client list.

The Associated Press has reported that there was "a contentious conversation" between U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Dan Bongino at the White House over the decision to withhold the records. Burchett has posted about the case repeatedly on his social media channels and previously indicated support for Bongino.
