Man Shot in the Chest at Clarksville Speedway/Fairgrounds

CLARKSVILLE, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS) – Clarksville Police are investigating after a man was found shot in the chest at the Clarksville Speedway and Fairgrounds Saturday evening.

According to Clarksville Police, the first call came in around 9:10 p.m., when off-duty officers working security at the venue reported hearing gunfire coming from the parking lot near the entrance.

According to PIO Scott Beaubien with the Clarksville Police Department, additional officers responded immediately and located a male gunshot victim with a wound to the chest. The victim was transported to Tennova Healthcare. His current condition has not been released.

Witnesses reported seeing five to six males fleeing the area on foot toward Hazelwood Road after the shooting. Police believe the incident was isolated.

Clarksville Police are asking anyone in the area with security cameras to check their footage. If anything suspicious is observed, please call 911.

The Clarksville Speedway and Fairgrounds at 1600 Needmore Road located at 1600 Needmore Road MAP, is primarily a motorsports venue featuring a 3/8-mile banked clay oval dirt track and a 1/8-mile two-lane drag strip. It hosts various racing events throughout the year, including dirt track racing, drag strip competitions, drifting, and go-kart events. Additionally, the venue accommodates community events such as a county fair in the summer, a large biker toy drive in the fall, and a Christmas lights display in the winter.
