HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- The Hendersonville Police Department is turning to the community for help identifying a burglary suspect who reportedly smashed his way into a convenience store, causing damage that was worth more than the stolen products.

During the early morning hours on Sunday, Sept. 14, multiple surveillance cameras captured a person walking out of the darkness and slowly approaching the front door. He paused for a moment before raising a landscaping brick and launching it through the glass. The individual quickly ducked through the broken glass and started pulling select items off the shelf.

Authorities said they believe someone might recognize the suspect based on his feet. He was wearing flood pants that revealed white socks and shiny dress shoes, which HPD Lt. Chris Gagnon speculated could be wingtip shoes.

In addition, law enforcement said the way the individual moved could be a clue. He appeared to walk lightly, seemingly on the balls of his feet at times.

"He came there with a duffel bag, so he definitely knew what he was doing. This was definitely pre-planned," Gagnon said, adding that the suspect probably picked up the rock used to break the glass from a nearby yard.

Once inside, the individual allegedly spent 32 seconds stealing three different food items from one aisle and some vapes from another section of the store before leaving the scene. He even bypassed the open cash drawers.

Because of the way he moved through the store, police believe the suspect was familiar with the layout.

"He's pretty covered up. He's got long sleeves on. It looks like he's wearing probably socks over his hands, high water pants with white socks on underneath, so it's very interesting. This guy's going to be noticed by somebody," Gagnon told News 2.

If you have any information about this burglary or recognize the "tip-toe bandit," you're asked to call the HPD at 615-822-1111.
