FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The fate of one property in Williamson County is up for debate after a proposed new green space could impact the area.
The property is a couple hundred acres of land that some neighbors don't want to see change.
The Harlan property sits at the end of Hillview Lane. Its tree lines fill both sides of the road with a unique drive for anyone coming through the area.
But a proposed village green concept could change that.
The new concept would make Hillview Lane more of a multi-use path and would have an alternative road system.
Some neighbors are fighting the development, claiming the edge of Hillview Lane is one of the last rural streets left in Franklin, and they don't want to lose the beauty.Â
Franklin Mayor Ken Moore said he understands neighbors' concerns and wants to reach a decision that benefits everyone involved.
"I wanna preserve the very special feel that's in that area and also preserve what the neighbors feel about the area and how they want to see it evolve," Moore said.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen plans to discuss entry and exit options for the development. The board is also looking at additional road improvements off Coleman Road, which is south of the property.
Moore said no decisions have been made yet on additional road networks, and no final decision for the property has been finalized.

The public comment period for the proposed development is set for Tuesday at the Williamson County auditorium. The board plans to hear comments on planning services, rezoning and the development plan.
The developer is deferring to comment and will speak at another meeting set for July 8.
