NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A knock on the door turned into a frightening situation fast in East Nashville.
A woman claimed two men posed as Xfinity workers in an attempt to gain entry to her house.
Natalia Campo told News 2 she was home alone when two men knocked on her door. They told her they were called to her home to cover up some cables and needed to come inside, but her gut instinct told her something wasn't right.
Campo caught the entire interaction on her doorbell security camera.
The two men walked up to her house, no company vehicle in sight, wearing neon work vests with the Xfinity logo.
One of the men had only a rag in his hand.
Campo says the lack of any tools was one of the first red flags. Another red flag was the fact that she's not an Xfinity customer.
Campo told News 2 when she started questioning the men, they then called a woman who claimed to be their manager.
The woman could recite Campo's address, but couldn't give her name.
Campo ended up denying the two men entry. She then drove to an Xfinity store, where employees told her there was no work order made for her address.
Now, the Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating.
Campo said she's thankful for her gut feeling, but is now frightened.
"I was just trying to see the best in someone, like maybe they got the wrong address, even though they had my address," she said. "It definitely gave me an uneasy feeling, like, if I would've let them come in, who knows what really could've happened. Especially because their main intention was trying to ask me to come in."
Xfinity told news 2 they are not aware of this specific situation but will cooperate with any investigation. They also pointed out their crews always carry company ID badges and will arrive in a marked company vehicle.
