MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A man is facing multiple charges, including possession of a weapon as a felon, following a traffic stop in Mt. Juliet.
According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department's Facebook post from Saturday, July 26, the overnight stop on Golden Bear Gateway was the result of a red light traffic signal violation.
During the stop, law enforcement said they discovered the 43-year-old Memphis man driving the vehicle not only had a suspended license, but he was a convicted felon on active parole for aggravated assault. In addition, authorities found a Glock 17 handgun under a backpack in the car.

Officials said the man was arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license.
"We are grateful for the proactive work of our officers and their efforts to ensure Mt. Juliet remains one of the safest cities around," MJPD wrote on social media Saturday morning.
No additional details have been released about this incident, including the identity of the man who was apprehended.
