Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Marginal Risk, level 1 out of 5, for severe storms has been issued east of Interstate 65 Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday. Storms will break out through the afternoon and evening. Most storms will start to the east, but become more widespread across Middle Tennessee through the evening.

The Heat Advisory that has been in effect all week continues today until 7 PM. Highs today will be in the lower to mid 90s, but when you add humidity to the mix, it will feel like the triple digits.

Feels like temperatures could peak east of I-65 around lunchtime before storms bring temperatures down and cools things off. Some of the hottest spots today will be west of I-65 because storms won't develop until later.

Storm chances increase this afternoon and evening. The latest models show storms popping up in eastern counties by 2 p.m. Scattered storms become widespread through dinner time until about 10 p.m.. Rain chances continue through midnight, but the atmosphere will have lost most of its energy for strong storms.

The biggest storm threats will be gusty winds and pockets of heavy rain. Frequent lightning is possible with initial storms.

Scattered storms continue into Saturday and Sunday. Saturday, storms will start early and continue through the day. You should be able to dodge them until the afternoon when they cover up the region.

Highs for the weekend will be in the lower 90s. Scattered storms chances keep highs more seasonal, and rain chances last into the first couple of days into the new work week. Things look more dry for Wednesday and Thursday.
