Description
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Ahead of the incoming heat wave for the weekend, there is more rain and possible severe thunderstorms expected across Middle Tennessee.

Tuesday through Thursday have severe risks, but the timeframe of highest concern will be Wednesday evening through early Thursday morning.
TUESDAY

The Storm Prediction Center added a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for most of Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky on Tuesday. This severe risk is very low, primarily for damaging wind gusts. However, due to weak wind shear in the atmosphere, an isolated rotating storm is not ruled out. The primary issue is heavy rain. Slow-moving storms could lead to localized flooding in our region.

The timing of the storms shows coverage increasing by midday and afternoon with daytime heating. The storms are not moving very fast, so heavy rain can accumulate in a short period of time. Storms decreasing by evening.
WEDNESDAY
The risk on Wednesday is mainly for the evening and overnight hours for a storm complex to move in from the northwest. There is a Slight Risk (level 2/5) for northwest Middle Tennessee & southwest Southern Kentucky, and a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for about all of the remaining areas.

The threats become a bit more elevated on Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. Heavy rain remains a concern, but stronger wind gusts and hail are possible, with an isolated tornado not ruled out (especially in northwest areas).

On Wednesday morning, a few storms are expected, mostly in northern areas. Then, sunshine breaks out and temperatures warm to near 90 (feeling like the middle to upper 90s). By early evening, we'll start watching for severe storm development near the northwest counties.
Late Wednesday evening into early Thursday, a line of storms will increase and move southeast through our region. Wind gusts will be the main threat with heavy rain.
THURSDAY
After 7 a.m. Thursday, there is still a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) of severe storms in the eastern/southeastern counties.

Storms should be in a weaker state, but producing mainly heavy rainfall and some gusty winds.

As a weak front moves in, a few showers and storms will persist, especially south of I-40. Clouds will help keep temperatures in the 70s to lower 80s.
Starting Friday, the rain chances decrease dramatically, allowing for temperatures to rise well into the 90s! Feels like temperatures will be approaching or exceeding 100°!
