NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Officials are working Tuesday morning to stabilize the structural integrity of a row of townhomes in Madison after a vehicle crashed into them.
According to Metro Fire officials, the vehicle was driving in the area of Williams Avenue when it crashed, damaging two garage doors and part of a support wall between two residences.
Five connected townhomes were deemed unsafe and had electricity cut off. Firefighters worked to build supports for the townhomes to prevent further damage.
Officials said residents are being allowed to retrieve some personal items from inside, and no injuries were reported. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
The building now awaits assessment from structural engineers.
Authorities have not yet determined why the driver crashed into the building. News 2 is on the scene working to obtain additional information.
