Description
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Heat Advisory is in effect across Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky until 7 p.m. Friday. Heat Index ("feels like") values in the region could be as high as 106 degrees.
The Heat Advisory was extended to include Van Buren, Pickett, Cumberland, Grundy and Fentress counties.

Highs today will reach the upper 90s, but it will feel like the triple digits across the Mid-State. The feels like temperatures break into the 100s by noon and stays that way until the sun goes down.
It should be noted that counties outside of the Heat Advisory will also experience heat index values of 100 and above.
The high today will be 98 degrees in Nashville, but this won't break the record set back in 1988. Each day through the rest of the work week temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s. It will feel like 5-10 degrees warmer than the actual temperature.

This could be a dangerous situation, so be sure to take your heat precautions. Drink plenty of water, take breaks in the air conditioning, and wear light, loose-fitting clothes. Be sure to check in on the elderly, kids and pets too!

A few isolated storms are possible each afternoon and evening. Not everyone will see rain, but if you do, heavy downpours and gusty winds are possible.
Rain chances go up by Friday afternoon and scattered showers stick around through the weekend. This happens because the high-pressure system that has been bringing the hot and humid conditions finally breaks down.
