NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An Old Hickory man, who was arrested on back-to-back nights, faces multiple charges following his latest apprehension.
The Metro Nashville Police Department said 25-year-old Quendez Volland ran from officers at a shooting scene on Burning Tree Drive Tuesday night, adding that he was carrying a bag containing marijuana and a firearm. Though he was charged with evading and resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, marijuana possession and gun charges, he was released Wednesday morning on an $11,000 bond.
Then, on Wednesday night, detectives with the MNPD's Violent Crimes Division reportedly found him getting out of a Toyota Tacoma that had been reported stolen out of Mt. Juliet at a Gallatin Pike gas station. As detectives approached Volland, authorities said he fled on foot into traffic.
At the same time, police said a 14-year-old passenger moved into the driver's seat and left in the Tacoma. The teen was later found on East Old Hickory Boulevard near Sandhurst Drive after crashing the Tacoma into a guardrail.
Though the teen tried to run away, officials said he was "quickly apprehended." He's been charged in Juvenile Court with reckless driving, vehicle theft, evading arrest, juvenile handgun possession, leaving the scene, marijuana possession and not having a driver's license.
Detectives said they found a loaded Glock handgun outside the truck at the site of the crash, as well as a second Glock between the driver's seat and the emergency brake. Hydrocodone pills and marijuana were also recovered from the vehicle.
Volland was charged Wednesday night with vehicle theft, evading arrest, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, reckless driving and escaping custody, in addition to gun and drug charges. The MNPD added that he was a convicted felon out of Sumner County and, as of publication, remains in custody on a $104,000 bond.
