NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — From the party to the pantry, a new nonprofit is capitalizing on Nashville's bachelorette scene to give back to those in need.
Founder Kaitlin Zurdosky said often when groups to check out of their rental homes after a long weekend of celebrating, they have leftover food and drinks.
“It’s kind of an epidemic," said Zurdosky. "You go on a party, you have all this food, and then what do you do with it at the end? You throw it away.”
So, she created Bach Bank to collect these unopened items and donate them to community pantries and shelters.
“We’re the solution to come and donate it locally, to keep the waste out of landfills, and feed the people who need it," said Zurdosky.
For unopened alcohol, Bach Bank lets the celebration live on for a good cause. They repurpose the drinks for fundraisers benefiting the non-profit.
The service is free and volunteer based. Groups of any kind (not just bachelorettes!) can schedule a pick-up for when they’re headed out of town.
Groups do not need to be present for pick-ups and can leave items on the doorstep.
The nonprofit also partners with short-term rental hosts and party planners for pick-up opportunities.
This is all Nashville-based, but Zurdosky is working to expand the mission.
