NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nolensville commissioners will discuss whether to hire a third-party consultant in Monday night's work session.
The consultant would evaluate what additional retail businesses would be a good fit for the town.
"We've got a lot of people moving into this area, and they certainly need jobs and people need to be working, and I believe Nolensville is a good location for them to come and for them to be,” Nolensville resident Ron McGowan told News 2.
Nolensville Town Manager Victor Lay said adding more retail businesses would help boost sales tax revenue for the town to keep up with growth. It would also give people more options to shop locally instead of having to drive to Brentwood or Franklin.
“If you can get the quality retail inside the town limits that you want and really target those pieces, then folks can go, ‘Oh, well, let's just run down to the street’.... That's why having a grocery store in the town limits is such a valuable thing to us,” Lay explained.
NolenSpot owner Jonathan Newell said he’s in favor of more retail businesses coming to the town because it would help his business and give him more options to shop closer to home.

"Almost anything that we're needing on a daily [basis] we're going outside of Nolensville to get, or Amazon is going to bring it to us, so to have direct access or easier access is a benefit,” Newell said.
The consultant would cost the town $50,000. The proposal will be discussed for the first time at Monday night's work session.
