NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two families have been displaced after their homes were destroyed in a two-house fire that occurred Wednesday night in Antioch.
According to the Nashville Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the fire on the 2700 block of Windcrest Trail around 5:30 p.m. There were reports of a house fire that had smoke and flames showing from the back of the house.
Once on the scene, firefighters saw that the house was fully involved in smoke and flames. Another house had been exposed to the fire and was also on fire with heavy smoke and flames, fire officials said.
According ot the NFD, crews established a water supply, contained both fires and kept the flames from spreading to another house. The third house's damage was "minimized" due to the firefighters' efforts.
Firefighters were delayed in their efforts to establish a water supply by using a nearby hydrant due to someone being parked in front of it. They ultimately were able to locate the vehicle owners, and the vehicle was moved.

No injuries were reported, according to the NFD, and the American Red Cross was called to assist the two families who were displaced after their homes were declared total losses.
Fire officials said that investigators determined the fire to be accidental and was linked to cooking with a propane stove inside the first home.
"The Nashville Fire Department reminds the community to follow all ordinances regarding fire lanes and hydrants," an NFD spokesperson said. "When emergencies occur, every second counts. Blocking access to hydrants or fire lanes can delay critical response, putting lives and property at greater risk."
