FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — The City of Franklin is hoping to use some local dollars to get portions of their road project wish list done while they wait for more funding.

Franklin has had success in funding projects like Columbia Avenue and widening the southeast side of Mack Hatcher, but there's more to be done.

Other projects they're focused on are I-65 at Murfreesboro Road, Franklin Road and Carothers Parkway.

While they wait to get more funding for the rest of them, the city says they want to use some of the budget to get started and make some fixes in the short term.

The projects are primarily to make the roads safer, but also to improve the quality of life in Franklin.

"The less time you're in traffic and the more time you're with your family you love, that's a good thing and a quality of life enhancement. We live in a great community and we want people to be able to enjoy it, not sitting in the car waiting to enjoy it," City Manager Eric Stuckey told News 2.

The city will be discussing these projects at the Franklin Board of Mayor and Alderman work session Tuesday, June 24, at 5 p.m. The work session will precede the regular BOMA meeting at 7 p.m.
