FRANKLIN COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A fire investigator is credited with saving the lives of multiple children during an apartment fire Wednesday in Winchester.
The fire broke out at the Cumberland Place Apartments on Cowan Highway just after 1 p.m.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Investigator Chuck Stines just happened to be near the apartment complex at the time of the fire.
Stines and management from the apartment complex began to notify and evacuate residents from the building. Stines found two toddlers on the second-story stairwell platform and carried them to safety.
Stines then began talking to a young girl asking for help through a window. She could not get out of the apartment door due to the flames so Stines helped her get to another window and kick out the screen.
Within minutes, the girl was able to lower herself down from the second-story window with Stines' help.
