NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Although there was no big winner declared after Wednesday night's Powerball drawing, some Tennesseans took home a nice chunk of change.
The jackpot reached an estimated $1.4 billion ahead of the drawing on Wednesday. However, after there were no tickets that matched all six numbers, the jackpot skyrocketed to $1.7 billion.
According to lottery officials, five $50,000 and two $100,0000 winning tickets were drawn in Tennessee.
The $50,000 winning tickets were sold at the following locations:
- Dunlap: HT Express at 14904 at Rankin Avenue
- Greeneville: Publix at 2315 E. Andrew Johnson Highway
- Knoxville: E-Z Stop Food Mart at 9200 Kingston Pike
- Nashville: Kroger at 2615 Franklin Road
- Nashville: Thortons at 7102 Charlotte Pike
Meanwhile, two players who won $100,000 reportedly purchased their tickets at:
- Memphis: Quince Road Food Mart at 5665 Quince Road
- Oak Ridge: M&S Quik Mart at 200 S. Illinois Avenue
In order to win the $1.7 billion jackpot, you need luck by your side, as the odds of winning are 1 in 292.2 million.
Since 2003, seven jackpot-winning tickets have been sold in the Volunteer State. In 2019, the $198 million winning Powerball ticket was sold in Hendersonville.
The next drawing will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, with the prize reportedly expected to be the third-largest in U.S. lottery history.
