Description

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Woodbine Neighborhood Association has taken residents' input and are using it to paint a picture of the area's future.

Ninety-nine households participated in the "Future of Woodbine" research project, which leaders are utilizing as they research future zoning. The goal of the research project is to understand what Woodbine residents and homeowners find beneficial to the neighborhood.

With neighborhood and Metro officials evaluating potential development across Nashville, Woodbine leaders want to make sure they represent the interests of the whole community.

The results included a short list of things residents love about the community, like yards, trees and architecture working to cultivate a neighborhood feel; diversity; and community. On the other hand, traffic and speeding; lack of walking and biking infrastructure; and vacant homes were among the things residents like least.

When residents were asked about the "ideal Woodbine in 2035," neighbors responded with a desire to see more greenway systems, primary routes to offset heavy traffic and more safely walkable restaurants and grocery stores that mirror the 12 South area.

Adding rumble strips to protect bike lanes and bringing in locally-owned shops were ideas from residents to keep Woodbine the neighborhood they love. You can read the full survey results here.
