NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — This year's Bonnaroo music festival was cut short by bad weather. This prompted organizers to ask their fans if they should continue with the early June timeframe or move it to a different time of year.

The survey was issued on June 24th and has since expired, but fans have been sharing their opinions on Bonnaroo's social media post.

Many of the commenters said they don't think the dates should change, but they would like to see changes to the grounds to improve drainage.

"June isn’t the problem - it actually works out great for students and those who aren’t working in the summer/can work it in as their vacation! There needs to be better drainage on the farm," said one commenter on Instagram.

Others said the fall months would make for the best weather.

News 2 spoke with the National Weather Service in Nashville, to see what they think the best time would be.

Meteorologist in Charge Krissy Hurley said the time of year with the least amount of rain and the most comfortable temperatures would be in the fall.

"Mid to late September through October, where we've not quite transitioned into winter just yet, but our weather is a lot drier, there's less humidity, and temperatures are on the downward swing," Hurley told News 2.

Hurley said if she had to pick a time during the summer, the current dates would still be the best.

"There's not really a great month when you're looking at June, July, and August; however, if I had to pick something, I would roll the dice and pick early June, hoping that it's not quite as hot and get kind of a dry week," said Hurley.

Looking at Nashville's climate data, the fall months would offer the best chance to avoid rain and thunderstorms, along with extreme heat.

The average high temperature in September drops into the 80s, and into the 70s by October.

Along with more comfortable temperatures, September and October are among the driest months in Middle Tennessee.
