According to court documents, a THP trooper first noticed a sedan failing to maintain its lane of travel while heading southbound on Murfreesboro Pike. The sedan turned onto Bell Road at a high rate of speed and the trooper followed to "observe the suspect's driving pattern."

The driver — identified as Mitzy De La Rosa, 21 — drove down Bell Road at up to 80 mph and the trooper attempted to pull the sedan over, according to Metro police. De La Rosa did not stop while weaving in and out of traffic and the trooper initiated a pursuit.

The pursuit continued as the sedan turned and drove into the opposite lanes of travel. At the intersection of Bell Road and Eagle View Road, the De La Rosa stopped and 24-year-old Gavin Thompson got out of the car with his hands up, according to court documents.

The trooper held Thompson at gunpoint while De La Rosa reportedly made a U-turn and sped away at speeds more than 100 mph.

As the pursuit approached the intersection of Bell Road and Murfreesboro Pike, court documents state De La Rosa ran a red light and crashed into an SUV. It is not known if anyone in the SUV was injured.

Inside the vehicle, officers recovered five individual marijuana packages and six grams of marijuana in a glass jar inside the center console.

De La Rosa was taken into custody and charged with felony drug possession, evading arrest, driving under the influence, drag racing and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Her bond was set at $44,000. Thompson was charged with felony drug possession and his bond was set at $5,000.
