Description

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Former Vanderbilt and NFL quarterback Jay Cutler is now facing a lawsuit in connection with an October 2024 crash that occurred in Franklin.

National law firm Morgan & Morgan filed the lawsuit on behalf of the plaintiff.

According to Morgan & Morgan, Cutler rear-ended the plaintiff as he was driving along Bridge Street on Oct. 18, 2024.

"Mr. Cutler was allegedly following the plaintiff at an unsafe distance and driving at an unsafe speed," a Morgan & Morgan spokesperson said. "Mr. Cutler was also driving under the influence at the time of the crash, and pleaded guilty to that charge last Tuesday, according to news reports."

Cutler was charged with driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while intoxicated, failure to exercise due care and violation of the implied consent law. He was sentenced to four days in jail for the DUI, and the gun charge was dropped as part of the guilty plea, according to the district attorney’s office.

The lawsuit alleges "the plaintiff suffered a number of injuries as a result of the crash that continue to cause him pain and force him to seek medical treatment."
