Description
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Some severe storms will be likely on Friday in the Middle Tennessee region. Another cold front is on the way and will bring cooler temperatures for the weekend.
Most of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky are under a Slight Risk (2/5) for severe storms. This means several severe storms are possible. Far northwest areas are under a Marginal Risk (1/5), with only a few isolated storms reaching the severe criteria.

Damaging wind and heavy rain will be the greatest threats. Hail is also possible. Though the tornado threat is very low, it cannot be ruled out.

Two rounds of storms are expected through Saturday morning. The first round has the severe threat. The severe weather timing is between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday. Ahead of the storm threat, it is hot and humid with highs reaching the lower to middle 90s. Then, storms blossom late afternoon and evening from west to east. Some of the storms be individual and separated from a line of storms, potentially increasing the storm threats (including that isolated tornado potential). Storms end late evening, and the severe threat will end also.
Early Saturday morning, the second round is expected to increase. This will not be severe, but the rain could be heavy at times with thunder and lightning. Temperatures are cooler on Saturday and stay in the 60s and 70s. Rain ending by mid-afternoon.
So overall, this weekend starts wet and is dry on Sunday. Morning lows by Sunday in the 50s.
