NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Two years after the deadly shooting at Covenant School, the school is looking for a fresh start as it plans to relocate to a new campus in West Nashville.

However, people who live near the proposed site aren't pleased with the idea.

Covenant recently announced a proposal to build a new school on a piece of property located on Highway 70 between Brook Hollow Road and Vossland Drive.

Neighbors like Greg Fox told News 2 they had no idea the plan was in the works until they saw the station's coverage of the move last week.

However, the school began conducting a traffic study in the neighborhood back in April.

Fox says he feels like neighbors should have been notified, since they will be the ones most impacted by the traffic and noise. He added residents already have these issues with the schools in the area.

"We've got Harding Academy and all their facilities; we've got West Meade Elementary; we've got St. Henry's Elementary, and now they want to put another elementary school here. I think people are understandably angry. They're confused and want to know how long this has been going on," Fox said.

The Metro Councilman who represents the property's district, Thom Druffel, said in a statement there are "many factors that must be studied and discussed" before any decision is made to support or oppose the project.

They also plan to get feedback from the neighborhood at a community meeting.
