NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville transportation officials are holding a meeting for people living in the Glencliff area to talk about a proposed traffic calming project.
Sabre Drive isn't a very long road, but it connects two heavily-traveled roads—McCall Street and Wheeler Avenue. It's also near Wright Middle School, making a traffic calming proposal even more attractive.
According to the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure, Sabre Drive residents applied for the Traffic Calming Program to try to slow drivers down, especially as children frequently walk to school.
NDOT last held a meeting on the issue in September to present what they thought would make the most sense for Sabe Drive. During the meeting, NDOT representatives proposed adding speed cushions as well as bulb outs—or a curb extension—along the road.
But NDOT said they aren't set on that idea and welcome resident feedback on the proposal.
That meeting is set for 5:30 Tuesday, Nov. 4. After that, NDOT will put out the proposal for homeowners along Sabre Drive to approve or decline. The neighbors will have to approve the proposal by at least 66% in order to move forward with the project.
If you live in the area and want to tune in, you can attend the meeting virtually here.
