HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A heads up for drivers in Hendersonville: For the next several weeks, there will be off-and-on road closures along Stop 30 Road as crews work to improve it.

The city has $6.5 million in its repaving budget, and this is just another project they're trying to knock out to help roadways in Hendersonville improve for all drivers.

The stretch of Stop 30 Road from New Shackle to Drakes Creek was identified as a problem area for Hendersonville drivers.

Now, work has already begun on that portion of roadway.

Crews had to do road repairs first, then they'll start working on the drainage system, followed by repavement.

The city is hoping the drainage work will help with notorious flooding along the road, and the repavement will eliminate potholes.

The work will take a few weeks, so the city wants to make people aware if they can't get through.

"When you're having to dig up a road and run pipes, there will be intermittent closures along the road—sometimes just a lane, sometimes closures for the entire through traffic—meaning if you're someone who frequently uses Stop 30 as a cut-through from Shackle to Drakes Creek, these next few weeks you may want to find an alternate road just to avoid it," Hendersonville Public Information Officer Casey Lamarr said.

When school starts next week, crews will limit the work between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to ensure the work doesn't impact school buses or parent pickup.
