Teen's body found in Cheatham Dam after drowning

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A teenager was found dead Friday afternoon after reportedly drowning near the Cheatham Dam, officials said.

Emergency crews were called to a possible drowning at the Cheatham Dam on Friday, July 4.

Authorities initially told News 2 that the teen is believed to have fallen off a float into the water and drowned.

The Cheatham County Emergency Management Agency later confirmed that the victim is a 13-year-old boy.

Officials have since recovered the teen from the water. Several agencies were sent to the dam Friday afternoon to search for the 13-year-old.

No additional details about the incident were immediately provided.
