NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new week brings more storm chances while temperatures increase as well. Keep an eye on the radar this week, some strong storms are possible in our region, especially later this week.

For Monday, there is a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for the far eastern and southeastern counties of Middle Tennessee. This could be expanded west in the upcoming 8 a.m. Monday update from the Storm Prediction Center.

The primary weather concerns are for hail and damaging wind gusts. The tornado risk is extremely low (no higher than a 1 out of 10 chance). With the rich moisture in our region, expect storms to produce locally heavy rainfall.

The morning rain has been very widespread, but not severe. It will take daytime heating to get any stronger storms going by the afternoon. As temperatures rise to the 70s and near 80, we'll see more storms develop this afternoon, especially east of I-65. This is where a few strong or severe thunderstorms could occur.

Rain chances will remain high on Tuesday with more scattered storms, but the severe weather risk is relatively low. Looking later this week, low rain chances on Wednesday & Thursday with rising temperatures. Rain chances increase again Friday and Saturday.

Starting Thursday night into Friday, and again Friday evening into Saturday, storm complexes look to impact our region with a severe risk. The Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of the area under a Slight Risk (level 2/5, 15% risk), especially on Friday into Saturday. Stay alert for Friday through Saturday as the severe risk is increasing.
