MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — A traffic stop in Mt. Juliet for a headlight violation resulted in the arrests of two people overnight who are now facing drug and weapon charges, officials said.
On Monday, May 12, the Mt. Juliet Police Department took to X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that an officer stopped an orange Dodge Dart on I-40 East overnight after spotting it leave a Mapco.
According to authorities, two individuals were inside the vehicle, identified as a 20-year-old and 17-year-old from Memphis.
In addition to the Memphians, police said they also found the following inside the vehicle: a rifle, handgun, 75 rounds of ammo, meth intended for resale, over 500 Adderall pills intended for resale, marijuana intended for resale, THC wax and vapes pens, a vehicle key programming device, and a vacuum sealer used for packaging drugs.

The 17-year-old reportedly gave law enforcement fake names before officers were able to confirm his identity. Police added that "it is likely the suspects could be involved in crimes across the state."
Mt. Juliet police said the 20-year-old was taken to the Wilson County Jail on charges including drug resale (meth, marijuana, and Adderall), possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and driving on a suspended license.
Meanwhile, the 17-year-old was reportedly taken to a juvenile detention center on "similar drug and weapon charges," along with criminal impersonation and possession of a prohibited weapon.
"This is the kind of proactive, alert policing that helps keep Mt. Juliet safe. Our officers are on the front lines every day, focused on stopping crime before it reaches our neighborhoods and takes root in our community," wrote the police department in a social media post about the arrests.
No additional details were immediately released.
