Description
ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — This weekend one local race is giving back to the community while promoting friends, family and Fido.
The third annual Framily 5K at Mill Ridge Park is happening in Antioch this weekend, and runners and walkers who want to get out and exercise while helping give back are encouraged to sign up to attend with their friends, family, and even furry friends.
The run is happening through the Grassland Loop Trail at Mill Ridge Park, which features plenty of meadows, ponds and hilltops. There is also an option for a quarter-mile paved trail loop for those who prefer a more relaxed pace.
All proceeds from the race go back to the park to help with the costs of putting on year-round events like the annual Moves in the Park and yoga classes.
Running the 5K is free, but you can upgrade your race package for $35 if you want an official timing chip, race bib, T-shirt and professional photo, as well as a specialty Friends of Mill Ridge Park water bottle.
Refreshments, DJ music, and first air will be provided compliments of the Friends of Mill Ridge Park, according to event organizers.
Those who want to support the Friends but cannot attend the race in person are encouraged to donate to the cause here.
For more information or to sign up for the race, visit the Friends of Mill Ridge Park website here.
