LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One Rutherford County city could be getting its first Starbucks location.
The new location would be at the corner of Floyd Mayfield Drive and Murfreesboro Road. La Vergne Mayor Jason Cole said he's trying to bring more amenities to the city. Cole added that residents have been asking for a Starbucks for years and he's been working with different locations and property owners to help make it possible.
Cole added that he hopes the location will be open by the end of the year. An Aldi recently opened up in the city and a Panda Express is under construction, and Cole is excited to bring more retail to the area. He said residents' feedback matters.
“We believe as a board and as a city that our residents' voice matters, so that’s what we’ve been focused on. This is one of those items," Cole said. "They’ve been asking for Starbucks, so we’ve been working on delivering that.”
Cole said that after the planning commission vote, he plans to file for construction permits next month. The commission is scheduled to vote on May 27.
