NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A registered sex offender was arrested Wednesday after officials received a tip he was visiting a Nashville park with children present for months.
According to court documents, 57-year-old Louis Shainberg was convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor in 2008 and attempted statutory rape in 1997.
On Monday, agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation received a tip Shainberg was frequently at the Fair Park Dog Park on Bransford Avenue while children were present.
One witness told investigators they had several interactions with Shainberg where he made "odd comments," which prompted the tipster to search for him on the sex offender registry, according to court documents.
Another witness/tipster told officials Shainberg often brings a camera to the park to take photographs.
Under Tennessee law, no sex offender may knowingly be upon or remain at a public park or playground if children under the age of 18 are present.
Shainburg was booked into the Metro jail and charged with sex offender residential/victim violation. His bond was set at $75,000.
