CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The city of Clarksville is inviting residents to step back in time and learn the history of Tennessee Charcoal Iron.
In this class, Clarksville residents will discover how Tennessee’s historic iron furnaces shaped the regions economy, identity and left a mark on Clarksville.
Local author and historian Ronnie Tumelson will explore the pivotal role that iron furnaces played.
Clarksville’s Parks and Recs department is shining a light on how a once-mighty industrial powerhouses left a lasting impact on Tennessee’s story. Plus Tumelson plans to discuss Stewart County’s Place in American History.
Tumelson will also discuss his new book, Tennessee Charcoal Iron, which draws from years of cultural history research.
Attendees can reserve their seat early to get a glimpse at Tennessee’s industrial past.
The event will be held on Nov. 15 at the L&N Train Station from 10 a.m. to noon and it is free for the community.
