NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- An investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed early Sunday morning during an apparent ambush in Nashville's MetroCenter area, officials said.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, this "targeted murder" occurred at Parc at Metro Center Apartments along Athens Way. A resident reportedly found the victim -- identified as 26-year-old Jackailus Groves -- on an apartment's rear patio, behind the bushes, around 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Authorities said the investigation shows Groves had been been at LinQ nightclub on Lafayette Street before he arrived at the apartment complex, where his girlfriend lives, just after 3:15 a.m.
Then, right after Groves got out of his white Dodge Durango, he was shot in "what appeared to have been an ambush," law enforcement said. The person(s) responsible allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle.
No additional details were provided about the circumstances surrounding this shooting.
If you have any information about Groves that could help Homicide Unit detectives with their investigation, you're asked to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
