MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) -- After an officer noticed a woman "lingering suspiciously" at a Mapco in Mt. Juliet Sunday evening, law enforcement said they discovered she was wanted in connection with allegations involving a drug house.
The Mt. Juliet Police Department said the officer spotted the woman on Sunday, April 13 at the Mapco near Interstate 40, where she spent nearly 40 minutes "pretending to perform vehicle maintenance in an apparent effort to avoid leaving while the officer was nearby."
The officer decided to trust his instincts and check on the woman. As a result, she was identified as a 43-year-old woman from Crossville, according to authorities.
However, a deeper investigation revealed the woman had a nationwide extradition warrant out of Rutherford County that was "tied to allegations that she leased a property and intentionally used it as a drug house for storing and selling illegal substances," police said.
Officials said the woman was taken into custody without incident and booked on the warrant for Rutherford County law enforcement.
"This is another example of our officers staying alert, investigating suspicious activity, and working hard to keep Mt. Juliet safe," MJPD posted on social media.
No additional information was shared about the woman's identity or her arrest.
