MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Murfreesboro man accused of brandishing a handgun during the 'No Kings' protest in Nashville is now facing additional charges following an incident that took place in Murfreesboro, officials said.
The 19-year-old was arrested over the weekend after he was allegedly involved in heated arguments and spit at people before pulling out a gun during the ‘No Kings’ protest at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park.
Now, the Murfreesboro Police Department says the 19-year-old is facing three counts of carrying or possession of a weapon for an incidents that took place in April and on Monday, June 16.
Police said officers were sent to a home in West Murfreesboro on Monday after the 19-year-old made suicidal statements online. After contacting the man, officers reportedly found a loaded 9mm handgun in his waistband.
Officials said the 19-year-old is under a court-ordered conservatorship and was charged after violating the terms. Murfreesboro police said he was taken to a hospital to be evaluated and was served with warrants after being discharged Tuesday afternoon.
The 19-year-old is being held without bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on July 21.
