NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman and her child crashed along Interstate 65 while fleeing from a man trying to crash into them at a high rate of speed Monday night.

According to court documents, the woman and Thaddeus Carmichael, 27, were in a verbal argument Monday night that eventually turned physical. Carmichael allegedly punched and kicked the victim in the face and body, tore her shirt and strangled her.

She managed to run away from the apartment complex on Robert Cartwright Drive and got into a vehicle with her 2-year-old child, while Carmichael reportedly got into his own vehicle to follow her.

As she attempted to drive to the Goodlettsville police station, but Carmichael reportedly moved his vehicle in front of hers to block her from making several turns. She drove onto Interstate 65 where he allegedly hit her car with his vehicle several times as they drove over 100 miles an hour.

The woman eventually lost control of the vehicle and spun out into a tree line the I-65/I-40 East merger.

Reports said Carmichael walked over to the crashed vehicle and struck the window with a metal object in an attempt to bust the window out. The victim check to see if the child was OK before she unlocked the doors and Carmichael took the child to put him in his own vehicle.

Officers and paramedics arrived, and took the woman and child to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Carmichael faces nine charges including felony attempted criminal homicide, felony assault, felony kidnapping of a victim under 13 and felony child endangerment. His bond is set at $255,000.
