MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — News 2 is getting new details in the scandal coming out of Mount Juliet.
Two city information technology employees, including the department's director, were fired last month with no explanation to the public.
Now, newly released documents reveal what led to those terminations.
Ever since two employees of Mt. Juliet's IT Department were let go, including Director Travis Taylor, there have been calls for transparency.
"Two people have been fired," former Mt. Juliet Parks Director Rocky Lee said during a meeting last week. "Departments heads have been fired. People want to know; they owe it to them for that."
Now, new records show why the city took action. On Sept. 29, the Mount Juliet Police Department received an anonymous crime tip alleging Taylor had been selling old city-issued cell phones for personal gain. The complaint also claimed he was involved in an inappropriate sexual relationship during work hours.
The documents also show Taylor's employee performance evaluation, where he had highly positive reviews.
As for the other IT worker, River Johnson, documents show he had partnered with Taylor in the alleged scheme to sell old city phones for profit. Johnson is also accused of trying to cover up the transactions and engaging in inappropriate sexual relationships while on the job. Both employees were terminated following the investigation.
Now, city officials are waiting for the TBI investigation to wrap.
"Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but I wanna see a copy of that report," Mt. Juliet District 3 Commissioner Scott Hefner said.
