Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Crash During Benefit Ride 

PLEASANT VIEW, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to officials in Pleasant View, a motorcyclist was critically injured Sunday morning during a benefit ride held in honor of a young man who lost his life in a motorcycle crash earlier this year in Robertson County.

According to Trey Nilms, Assistant Chief of Operations with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, the crash occurred on the I-24 overpass at Highway 49, the first call coming into 911 at 11:56 AM. The rider, participating in a benefit ride for Cody Fletcher, reportedly struck the rear of a motorcycle during the procession. Fletcher lost his life in a motorcycle crash on Boyles Road on April 28th.  FULL STORY

“We’re not sure if it was another motorcycle or a passenger vehicle,” Nilms said, “but according to other participants, he ran into the back of something.” Sources tell Smokey Barn News that it was another motorcycle that the rider impacted, but no other serious injuries were reported. Reportedly, the group was large, consisting of about 150 motorcyclists and as many as 50 cars.

The rider was at the end of the run, so many of the riders ahead learned of the crash after arriving at a restaurant at the end of the run. Upon learning of the crash, we’re told the group gathered in prayer for the downed motorcyclist.

The rider, believed to be in his late 20s, sustained critical injuries and was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. While initial emergency calls described CPR in progress, Nilms confirmed that the rider was breathing on his own when responders arrived on scene.

Both Robertson and Cheatham County EMS responded due to the crash’s location near the county line. Pleasant View Police were also among the first to arrive.
