Description

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — Once a month, the art crawl in Franklin comes alive.

It's a time when local artists can show off their work.

One organizer said the event has exploded in popularity over the years.

Mike Ingram, who is an artist himself and a part of this event, said they started off with a handful of artists their first go around, and now they have dozens who participate.

The art crawl takes place from 6-9 p.m. up and down Main Street in downtown Franklin on the first Friday of the month.

However, this month's art crawl is being held on the second Friday, since the first Friday was a holiday.

Along with the local artists, there will be live music on the square Friday night in Franklin.

The artists displaying their work tonight are mainly from the city, but some are from different parts of Middle Tennessee.

Ingram said it's always been important to him to keep the artists local, because it's a way to give back to the community.

"Franklin is kind of an artsy town. We have a lot of art and music here, and everyone is very supportive of the arts community," he told News 2.

The city will also provide free parking downtown for people to be able to enjoy the art crawl.

The only cost will be any art you decide to buy.
