NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new "No Parking" ordinance is in place for one town in Williamson County.
The ordinance is a result of outrage from residents about over-parking in the area. Nolensville leaders say an excess of cars was creating a safety hazard for kids.
The "No Parking" ordinance is on Eden Rose Drive from Queen Annes Court to Brittain Downs Drive on both sides of the roadway.
Nolensville Town Manager Victor Lay said the HOA submitted a request for no-parking signs during drop-off and pickup school hours. The town followed up with an ordinance to prohibit parking in the area to make it a safer place.
The ordinance is in place to reduce the traffic load and make it safer to see kids when they cross the street.
News 2 asked the Nolensville Town Manager whether he plans to make ordinances for every neighborhood that has a traffic problem. He said that the decision varies from case to case.
"The town's been very responsive to the neighborhoods," Lay said. "Especially when everyone in the HOA comes and presents something like this, it's reflective that the entire neighborhood is basically saying, 'We need this to happen.'"
Lay said the ordinance does not create a burden on residents who already live in the area.
Lay said the town has a process for issues like this one, but any neighborhood shouldn't be afraid to ask for a change if they need it.
