GILES COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A pursuit that started in Tennessee and ended in Alabama Friday night resulted in a man's arrest and the seizure of drugs and firearms.
The Elkton Police Department in Tennessee said the situation on Friday, Aug. 8 started as a report about a reckless vehicle on Highway 31 and then Interstate 65 in Giles County.
According to authorities, the Giles County Sheriff's Department notified the Limestone County Sheriff's Office about a chase entering Alabama. Limestone County deputies and Ardmore police officers intercepted the suspect when he crossed the state line.
The Limestone County Sheriff's Office said the driver -- later identified as Jason Rose -- continued driving southbound on Interstate 65, discarding items from his pickup truck during the pursuit.
Law enforcement said they deployed spike strips multiple times in Limestone and Morgan counties, bringing the chase to an end just south of the I-65 bridge in Priceville.
After taking Rose into custody without further incident, Limestone County deputies said they returned to where they saw the man throwing objects from his truck. Authorities reportedly found 0.25 pounds of methamphetamine, in addition to the other evidence seized from inside the vehicle.
According to officials, Rose has been charged with the following offenses:
- Trafficking meth
- Unlawful possession of a controlled substance (LSD)
- Second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana
- Possession of a pistol as a violent felon
- Felony attempting to elude
- Tampering with evidence
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Law enforcement said Rose was out on bond for unrelated charges at the time of the incident.
"I am grateful for the strong partnership and coordinated efforts of the Giles County Sheriff’s Office, Ardmore Police Department, Athens Police Department, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Priceville Police Department, and Decatur Police Department. Together, we brought this pursuit to a safe conclusion and removed a dangerous individual from our community," Limestone County Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin said in a statement.
Just after noon on Saturday, Aug. 9, officials announced Rose was in the Limestone County Detention Facility awaiting a bond hearing.
No additional details have been released about this incident.
