NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man faces charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence after a head-on crash that killed a woman and left another person seriously injured in South Nashville.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the crash was reported at 3:25 a.m. Sunday in the area of Bell Road and Harris Hills Lane.
Investigators said a Maserati SQ4 driven by Julio Ceasar Herrera Gonzalez, 36, crossed into oncoming lanes of traffic and struck a Nissan Rogue head on.
The Nissan driver was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, and the 37-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are working to notify her family.
Gonzalez was also taken to VUMC for treatment of minor injuries, where officials say he showed signs of impairment. He is hospitalized with minor injuries, but upon his release will be booked into Metro jail on charges of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, driving under the influence and driving without a driver's license.
