NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Gunfire from a drive-by shooting missed someone in their Glencliff home by just a few feet last week. It's another case of violence that has worried people in the neighborhood.

On the night of Friday, August 8 at around 8:30 p.m., gunfire echoed through the area. Home security camera footage captured the suspect shooting from a pickup truck.

"As he was turning, the passenger — the passenger on the right side — would have had a line of sight right at that black house," Glencliff resident Preston Fittro said. "During the turn, he shot three times right at the house."

The Metro Nashville Police Department said three bullets pierced the home, hitting a cabinet, the refrigerator and the garage door, but missing the person who lives there by just 10 feet.

Fittro, the next-door neighbor, told News 2 he was in his backyard when he heard the shots, but said gunfire into the air isn't unusual. He said that feeling changed, though, when he heard the bullets ended up inside a home.

"It used to be they just shot in the air, and now they have shot at a house right next door to us," Fittro said.

Fittro told News 2 that he and his family often walk on this street around eight in the evening, but said after the shooting, he is rethinking that as well as the safety of the neighborhood.

"We love our house. We love this neighborhood," Fittro said. "We love going on walks in the evenings [or] afternoons, but if in the back of my head I am worried about someone driving by and shooting at something, whether that be a house or hopefully not a person, it doesn't make me want to stay in this neighborhood."

"I've lived here for eight years," Tony Zavitson, another Glencliff resident, said. "I've heard a lot of random shots and things like that along the main roads out here on Antioch Pike, along McCall Street, I know they do it on Nolensville Road."

Neighbors said that l2024 brought more car break-ins and gunfire.

"They will just shoot up in the air," Fittro said. "I found a bullet in my roof when I was hanging up Christmas lights."

After pushing for extra patrols, some said that safety has improved, and they hope it stays that way.

"We're hoping that with the new precinct opening that hopefully will cut down on crime around here," Zavitson said.

Police are still investigating Friday night's shooting. They believe the vehicle involved is a red, early model Chevrolet truck. If you know anything, call Crimestoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
