MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A family is remembering their loved one killed in a pedestrian crash.
Kali Mills was hit by a truck while walking home in Murfreesboro.
Her aunt, Tammy Modrall, also known as her Mama T, told News 2 she was a talented musician with a bright future.
Mills was getting her 23-year-old life up and running, ready to sing in her older brother's band.
"She had a beautiful voice," Modrall said. "She could sing, and it was amazing."
It's a talent that Tammy said Mills had since she was a little girl.
She sang in the church choir.
Mills' life was cut short one week ago when she was getting groceries and walking home.
Police said she was hit by a pickup truck crossing the busy intersection at Old Fort Parkway and New Salem Road.
Murfreesboro police said the 18-year-old driver stopped after the collision, but Mills' family wants to know more about how this happened.
"My heart broke," Marceline Warren, Mills' great aunt, said.
Mills' family said they were told by investigators that Mills had the pedestrian's right of way.
Police haven't released the driver's name, and he has not been charged.
Mills' family is trying to plan a funeral and is looking for help in covering the cost.
