NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An emergency communications dispatcher helped a biker lost in a wooded area of Hermitage back to safety using video and location technology Friday afternoon.
According to the Nashville Department of Emergency Communications, the biker called 911 at 4:20 p.m. to report that they were lost in the woods, but did not need medical assistance.
NDEC dispatcher Kyle Bolt used geocode system What3words to identify the bikers' exact location and direction of travel. The biker started a video livestream on their cellphone to share their viewpoint with Bolt, and was given step-by-step instructions back to the trailhead. The photo below is a still image from the biker's livestream shared by NDEC.
Bolt remained in contact with the biker until they reached their vehicle. No additional assistance from Metro Police or Nashville Fire was needed, though both agencies remained on standby for the duration of the operation.
