Description
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Stay alert on Wednesday for the risk of flooding. A lot of rain fell between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, and more is likely through Wednesday evening. As the rain chances decrease by Friday, the intense heat will take over and it will feel extremely humid.
A Flood Watch has been issued for most of Middle Tennessee through 7 p.m. Wednesday. This watch was issued for the poor runoff of water within heavy bands of rain that can cause ponding on the roadways. This will be very specific to areas that receive the rainfall today.

With this Flood Watch, it stems from the Weather Prediction Center's excessive rainfall risk over Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky in the Marginal Risk (level 1/4) category. Rain will be heavy at times and without poor drainage can cause flooding.

Rain amounts will vary, but a quick 1-2 inch amounts are possible in the storms. Severe weather is not expected, but a stronger storm could have some wind gusts associated with it.

Looking to Future Tracker, the storms for Wednesday morning will stay focused in the southeast and east areas of Middle Tennessee. Flooding will be a concern. Elsewhere, sunshine and daytime heating will make for a very humid and sticky day. This afternoon and evening, scattered storms to increase. Some storms will have a lot of lightning, but heavy rain will be the main issue. Storms end late evening.
Rain chances drop a lot on Thursday & Friday to isolated storms. By the weekend, mainly dry and super hot & muggy. Highs in the middle to upper 90s, but feeling like the upper 90s to possibly higher than 105°!

On Thursday, the Wilson County — Tennessee State Fair will kickoff. Rain chances are decreasing and temperatures fall into the 80s. Very humid for day one of the fair!

Stay alert to the radar for the additional storms on Wednesday, and prepare now ahead of the intense August heat coming this weekend and into next week!
