NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One East Nashville resident says the traffic backups in his neighborhood are already causing headaches, and school has only been back in session for a few days.
Adam Pizur, who has lived in East Nashville for about a year-and-a-half, said the school traffic from Warner Arts Magnet Elementary is causing frustration from not just him but his neighbors as well.
Pizur lives on Fatherland Street, located a few minutes away from the school. A photo he took of the traffic backup around the dismissal time shows parents wrapped around the block for their students.
He posted the photo to social media, saying he's waited as long as 20 minutes to get into his own driveway.
Pizur told News 2 he's confident another solution to the problem can be found and is encouraging Nashville leaders to find it.
"I know that there are solutions as far as drop-off areas, church parking lots we used as kids," he said. "I think East Park is probably a good spot as far as high visibility. I know that the safety of the kids is the main concern. I think a super high-visibility spot like that, there'd be no issue. I know there are typically police in the area at the time of let out; a safety officer. I think something like that could help manage it."
News 2 reached out to a Metro Councilmember for the area to see if they've debated solutions. As of publication, we have not heard back.
