Description
FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WKRN) — A traffic stop along Interstate 65 Monday night led to the arrest of a man wanted for his connection to a 2024 shooting that killed two teenagers, officials said.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Xavier Ellison, 34, was taken into custody on I-65 South after the Franklin Police Department stopped a vehicle for having illegal tint.
Authorities reported that Ellison was a passenger in the vehicle and gave the officer a fake name. However, at some point, the officer was able to identify Ellison, confirming that he had active warrants out for his arrest.
The MNPD said Ellison was wanted for a shooting that took place at a Hermitage apartment complex along Old Hickory Boulevard on March 23, 2024. According to detectives, Camron McGlothen, 17, and Reginald Smart, 18, died as a result of the "targeted" shooting.
Officials said Ellison is now the second suspect taken into custody for the deadly shooting, adding that Laarthur Robinson-Ross was arrested earlier this year in Montgomery County for his connection to the shooting. Robinson-Ross reportedly remains in custody on unrelated charges, and will be returned to Nashville soon to be booked on his double homicide indictment.
Meanwhile, Ellison was returned to Nashville Monday night and booked on two counts of first-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a weapon.
Booking records show Ellison remains jailed on a $200,000 bond.
